2012 will be to “clean” up and clear the remnants of anything that holds you back: beliefs, persons, things. In short, love enough to emotionally detach from EVERYTHING while remembering that detaching does not mean disconnecting. The goal for this year is to use these energies to bring freedom and change, abundance, quickened and accurate perceptions of what “is,” an enjoyment of spontaneity because you are in the “now,” as well as everyone being who they truly are so they can contribute to the whole

October 2012 (24/6 [22]) It is time to begin preparing the seeds that you will manifest in 2013, the year of sensitivity. These energies may have a familiar feel since they are the same as January with an added twist. You’ll find if there is any area of your life that is out of balance it will appear for you to release whatever is causing the imbalance. This may appear in the emotional areas of your life as you move even further to bring your emotions in balance and allow them to join with your feelings. You have the energies of the Spiritual Master Builder to assist you in this process. Your goal for this month is to take the information about truth from your deep inner knowing and create an enhancement to your already existing sense of order within, your foundation.

OCTOBER 1, to OCTOBER 6, 2012 (21/3)
This week is about using your creative energies to achieve inner peace. Part of this will be about examining your concept of “friendship” and who really is your friend. We will build the future by gathering together in groups with a purpose. Those groups will be supported by truth and trust among the members. These energies will support your creation as you express your ideas for the expansion and growth of all concerned. You begin with the energies of the mystic, the being who is able to blend the mystical with the mundane, so begin to realize that Spirit and physical are connected and that the purpose is to manifest the higher ideals of Spirit into your physical. The Universe figures you have this one, so the next day is all about manifesting the abundance that blending brings so let go of any limiting doubts in your ability to be you and manifest away. This is followed by a day of following your guidance to serve humanity without being a martyr so use all the rewards of past achievements which are shown to you to “make a difference” whether that is large or small because it all counts. You now turn to a day of clarifying and crystallizing your desires for justice in all your interactions before you move on to the next step so use your imagination to both clarify and energize those desires so they manifest. A day of possible intensity is presented by the Master Messenger so stay awake and aware as messages from your Spirit are everywhere to assist you to bring balance to all dimensions of you. You end this week with an intensification of the energies of celebration so that it is “kicked up a notch” and you find the bliss of Spirit and experience great joy, harmony and peace so stay connected to your intuition so you don’t get carried away. Your goal for this week is to find the Inner Peace that comes when you accept who you truly are and then understand what friendship really is as you serve humanity.

OCTOBER 7 to OCTOBER 13, 2012 ([22])
This week is a Master Builder week which means it’s time to start manifesting who you truly are, you “authentic self.” This vibration brings you four times the power, energy courage and responsibility to assist you to bring your Spirit onto the physical plane and manifest it in physical form. There is a sense of success and fulfillment for you, revel in it. You start the week with experiences and ideas which show you how to be a forerunner for better conditions in an enlightened way by checking your feelings and if you feel any “challenges” know that they are to help you release the “old way” so be ok with saying “no” when you feel the limit has been reached. A reminder of the year’s energies comes for you to check your comfort level with change and being the catalyst of your own life so follow your interests and see what new adventures they take you on. Sensitivity is now the watchword as you are presented with opportunities to take responsibility and put things into harmony for peace and balance so stay centered so you can take advantage of the opportunities to get into the flow and respond easily to “unexpected” events. This sensitivity continues as you are given the energies of the mystic who blends Spirit and physical and manifests it into the physical plane so stay reflective and visualize your desires as you adjust any part of you that is not demonstrating the truth so this can come to the surface and bring light, reality and clarity to any situation. Now it’s time to manifest is a major way as these balanced manifestation energies are supported by the Master Teacher/Healer energies of Christed consciousness and the Master Messenger energies so take advantage of the easy-flowing energies and exercise courage, faith and compassion as events arise spontaneously for you to be abundant in your life and assist you to “see” what’s next. A day of “reaping your rewards” comes for you to share and assist others by maintaining harmony and peace within so interact and you’ll find you gain deeper understandings. You end the week with another day to use your imagination effectively in crystallizing your desires for the greater good of all and then manifest that into your physical life. The goal for this somewhat intense week is to accept you volunteered to help humankind to achieve cooperation, harmony and to accept responsibility to plan the new, enlightened world we all want.

OCTOBER 14 to OCTOBER 20, 2012 (26/8)
This week is an opportunity to experience the greatest expression of the God within on the material plane. This is about learning to use your abundance wisely and understand that the “flow” is the law of giving AND receiving in service and balance. Your challenge at this time is to take responsibility for this affluent period. After all, you created it. You begin the week with the help of the Master Messenger so you can release any “lack” that’s left and understand that Spirit is all about the flow. Then you have a day of celebration and creation so rely on your intuition to stay balanced as you are “nudged” forward into happened and fulfillment. Get into your Creator self because there’s no turning back now and know that there are creative ways to turn around any “old” patterns you may still be holding on to so rely on your intuition because it will be very helpful in this process. Now a day of restless energies comes to you to see how well you manage to use them constructively with patience, persistence and determination to facilitate accomplishing any task “your way” so don’t forget to enjoy the pleasures earned by your constructive efforts. Sensitivity to you is now increased for you to stay centered on your inner foundation and increase your connection to the “flow” as you increase your inner command in order to gain command of your outer world. This moves you to a day of checking your connection between Spirit and physical in order to visualize and use your strong intuitive energies to reconstruct any mental energies, if necessary, into the positive force of manifesting that vision. You end the week with an intensification of the week’s energies of benevolence and abundance to assist you in examining any details in your material affairs that require action on your part to bring them into cooperation and compatibility with your vision. Your goal is to find the balance within you that understands the flow of giving and receiving and it’s key role in creating unification, authority and power.

OCTOBER 21 to OCTOBER 27, 2012 (21/3)
You now have another week to examine friendship and, hopefully, learn that the most important friendship you have is the one with yourself. This week is a creative time. An important issue to be examined is loyalty. This is important because we are striving toward Universal Brotherhood and you now have had two weeks close together to “grok” it. You begin with a day of being in that “sweet spot” between Spirit and physical in order to fulfill your need to “share” so remember sharing is just that, not you doing all the talking, and you’ll find your relationships will bloom. Now you are asked to step it up as you have both the Spiritual Architect and the Spiritual Builder energies supporting you as you rely on your intuitive Wisdom to clarify and express your vision and then plant the seeds that will bloom for everyone. Another intense day comes with the Master Messenger energies giving you an opportunity to emphasize Spirit in all you do so tune into your Higher Guidance and be sensitive to the insights and revelations that will come to you. It’s time to celebrate and create how far you’ve come so stay centered to insure you don’t get carried away with restless energies and at the same time receive guidance and direction for your next steps. You’ll then have lots of opportunities to use that creativity to move into the new way of doing things as you receive inspiration and revelations about the necessity for system and organization to effect worthwhile condition. A day of restless energies that have to be used constructively comes to you to assist you in standing up for the fact that your desire is to live life as your own standard so enjoy the pleasures of being free to do that. You end the week with the highest physical Master vibration of the Christed consciousness which requires you to get centered and remain balanced in order to give compassion for others and assist them to meet their challenges so keep your faith in the Higher Forces that ALL is in its right order. Your goal for this week is to stay in inner peace so that you may create for all humankind.

OCTOBER 28 to OCTOBER 31, 2012 (106/16/7)
You end this month with a high vibration with needs you to be conscious of your keen mind and mental awareness. You have the responsibility to bring forth creative ideas from your connection with your Spiritual truth. As you do this link up, you will join with the Universal laws of life and give service and bring order that WILL be for all mankind. You may find yourself doing more transformation, which is required, so that you can release worn-out concepts which leads to regeneration for self and others as you understand Spirit, order and the laws of life. You begin by tapping into your inner knowledge and power and making sure they are connected to your physical being and remember that this may take some flexibility and resourcefulness to get that firm connection. Then the Master Messenger comes to assist you as you manifest through the spontaneous events you experience so be discerning about what you desire to manifest and let the rest go. A day of reaping your rewards and simultaneously preparing for new adventures comes for you to share and maintain harmony and peace so everyone, including you, can be uplifted. You end the month and the period of “awakening” with the vibration of the seed and harvest so that you proceed by crystallizing your desires with a strong sense of justice, not judgment, built in so make sure to rely on your intuitive Wisdom to make appropriate selections of the seeds you are planting. Your goal for this period is to be in your power so that you may express growth, independence, order and truth for all of humankind.

Planetary Energies for October 8 to 14, 2012

IN KEEPING with the analogy I often share with clients who are experiencing a Saturn transit, I spent this morning pruning trees in my yard. Because of the way my astrological chart is configured, I've actually been working with Saturn transits for about a year -- and yet, now that Saturn is directly opposing my Taurus Sun, it is especially appropriate for me to be pruning out what is dead, stagnant, or no longer enhances my life experience.

If you have planets or points in early degrees of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus or Leo, you may closely relate to the need for symbolic or literal tree-pruning right now. But even if you are not working with direct transits, now that Saturn is in Scorpio, each of us is being instructed to clean up, clear out, and get rid of the dross in some area of our lives.

SCORPIO is an enigmatic sign in many ways. It is known for its directness and intensity, but also can be secretive and be driven by unconscious motivations. It has the capacity to go through transformational experiences and emerge anew on the other side, much as the mythical phoenix rises from the ashes. But it is also a fixed sign, and is at times overly tenacious and controlling, holding on to what no longer has value or is no longer working, simply out of habit or possessiveness.

Simply put, Scorpio is complex. It acts instinctively, abhors the superficial, and swims in deep emotional waters. In the zodiac, it opposes simplicity-loving Taurus, squares playful Leo, and also squares intellectual Aquarius.

THE GOOD NEWS is that with Saturn now in Scorpio, we may be able to bring a new objectivity to complicated emotional issues. Saturn assists us in being more mature, disciplined, and responsible, and a certain level of detachment usually accompanies those traits.

The downfall of Saturn in Scorpio is taking that detachment to an extreme. We can become ruthless in our pruning, throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water. Or, we can use Saturn's detachment to avoid looking at the deeper issues that need our attention.

AS ALWAYS with Saturn, if we want results, we can't just sit on the couch and let wishful thinking or avoidance be our only activity. We have to overcome our resistance to change, get up off the couch, and do the work that needs doing. After all, it is through personal effort that we earn Saturn's ultimate gifts of self-respect and achievement.

While Saturn travels through Scorpio for the next two-plus years, our personal work is as complicated as Scorpio itself. It includes becoming our own psychotherapist (or engaging a good therapist for help) so that we more fully understand for our own motivations and unconscious desires.

AT THE SAME TIME, Saturn-in-Scorpio requires that we be willing to cut out the "dead wood" in our lives. That dead wood may be external situations or relationships, but some may find the work to be mostly internal. We will see more clearly the emotional issues, resentments, and power struggles that we've been holding onto, that have actually been holding us hostage and sapping our energy.

Our rewards, as we release these old, now-stagnant emotions, are a renewed passion for life, a clearer knowing of our life purpose, and an increased ability to heal and rejuvenate.

THE EXTRA-GOOD NEWS is that a Saturn-Neptune trine is our main planetary event this coming week. A trine is formed when two planets are exactly 120 degrees apart. It indicates an opportunity to work easily with the positive energies of both planets.

One of the benefits of this trine is to help all those Saturn-in-Scorpio tasks flow more easily this week. This is an opportune time to do release work of all descriptions (and to prune the trees in your yard, if that is needed).

SATURN AND NEPTUNE are usually described in nearly opposite terms. Saturn is practical, Neptune is imaginative. Saturn is restrictive, Neptune is flowing. Saturn works with physical reality and concrete manifestation, Neptune reigns over our spiritual connection and attunement with other dimensions. Saturn helps us take charge of our lives, Neptune softens our need to be in control, thereby allowing the Universe to assist in all possible ways.

After reading this comparison, you might think any combination of these two planets would be like trying to mix oil and water. And yet, when Saturn and Neptune are working in harmony, as they are this week, the best of both are available to us:
It may be easier now to take steps to manifest (Saturn) our dreams and ideals (Neptune).
We are more able to observe our own and others' motivations (Saturn in Scorpio) and let go of power struggles, due to a heightened compassion and ability to forgive (Neptune in Pisces).
We can find the discipline needed to recommit (Saturn) to a spiritual path or practice (Neptune).
We can more easily release (Neptune) the internal and external barriers (Saturn) to our progress in many areas.
All in all, some nice possibilities here. May we all enjoy the ability to take advantage of these potentials this week!

Planetary Energies for October 1 to 7, 2012

Yes. I've been away for awhile. Last weekend was the first meeting of 2012 for the School of Esoteric Healing, so I've been very preoccupied with that. We have four new students, each one uniquely and magnificently gifted. The next three years will certainly be exciting and I'm really looking forward to it.

This is my 600th post. Like most who blog, I began this as a place to talk about my thoughts and interests and it began to seem that I had no thoughts. No interests. I'm not sure what was going on in my head except that too much was going on and I'm not sure even now that I have coherent ideas that I can share as any kind of meaningful conversation and so I posted more as a scrapbook over time. 

It has become my walking meditation in the mornings that my mind be clear and messages from Source flow freely into my mind, providing seeds for contemplation which I may feel good about sharing with others. It's coming. I can feel it. Until it manifests as something real and tangible ...

THE GROUND beneath our feet shifts this week, as four planets change signs and Jupiter stations retrograde. When a planet changes signs or direction, we experience a shift in our energetic foundation -- sometimes subtly, sometimes more noticeably, depending on our own natal chart configuration.

It is rare to have so many planets making these shifts within a few days' time. It indicates that we are now ready to shift our perspective and, in many ways, to take the next step.

Here's the rundown for the week, ordered by time: Venus enters Virgo (Tuesday), Jupiter goes retrograde (Thursday), Mercury and Saturn both enter Scorpio (Friday), and Mars enters Sagittarius (Saturday).

OF THE PLANETS shifting this week, Saturn is the slowest moving, and so carries the greatest influence energetically. Saturn is known as the Teacher of the zodiac, since it requires us to be disciplined and responsible. If you're familiar with the characters in the Harry Potter books, think of Saturn in the personage of Professor McGonagall -- stern but fair, no-nonsense, but with our growth and learning always the top priority.

Like all the planets, Saturn provides opportunities for growth in the area of life represented by the sign it is traveling through. For our Teacher planet, its sign indicates where we are being required to get more realistic, make practical (and often hard) decisions, and take greater responsibility for outcomes.

SATURN has been mostly in Libra since late October 2009 (with a brief return to Virgo from April to July 2010). For the past three years, Libran themes have been the major focus for many of our lessons. These themes have included partnerships, fairness, justice, and the balance between self and other in all of its manifestations.

This week, Saturn leaves Libra and enters Scorpio, where the planet will travel until late December 2014 (with a brief return from June to September 2015). With this sign change, our core Saturn lessons shift fairly tangibly.

Energetically, Saturn was comfortable in intellectual Libra, enjoying the detachment that air signs encourage. There is a compatibility between Saturn and Libra that helped us integrate the lessons involved, even if we still found them challenging.

SCORPIO is much different energy. A water sign, Scorpio is emotionally based, intense and often moody. As Saturn enters Scorpio, it's a bit like Professor McGonagall taking on the task of disciplining the Slytherins (with apologies to those who are not familiar with or not fans of the HP series).

Saturn last entered Scorpio in December 1982, where it traveled until November 1985. For those who were in body then, we may recall these Scorpio themes being a part of our lesson plan during those years: truth and secrets, power and manipulation, intimacy, sexuality and boundaries, transformation, and the revelation of unconscious or hidden motivations.

It will be interesting to see how we re-engage these themes as Saturn gets more firmly established in Scorpio over the weeks ahead. But we may not have to wait too long for evidence of the Saturn-in-Scorpio effect -- Mercury also enters Scorpio this Friday, which could quickly draw our awareness to where these themes are being played out.

JUPITER'S CHANGE of direction is next in line as we consider this impact of this week's planetary shifts. Jupiter is currently in Gemini, advancing our communication skills and inspiring our interest in new ideas.

This outer expansion turns inward while Jupiter is retrograde (until January 30). During this four-month period, we are encouraged to turn within for our answers, to review what we have recently learned, and to reconsider what we can do to bring greater joy and meaning to our lives.

DURING THIS TIME, Jupiter will support us as we examine what we truly believe, as we learn to listen more carefully to our inner voice and hear what it has to say. If we have been living according to the dictates of the mind instead of our spirit, or if we have been listening to others' opinions instead of following our own wisdom, these next four months can be a powerful time to reorient ourselves, to align more fully with our truth and inner knowing.

And, if we feel we are already in touch with our soul's perspective, this Jupiter retrograde period can deepen our knowing of Self, open us to further insights and revelations, and help us recommit to our soul's journey.

THE OTHER TWO PLANETS changing signs this week are Venus and Mars -- the planets that represent our receptive (feminine) and assertive (masculine) traits. As Venus enters Virgo, we become more cautious about who we allow into our hearts. Virgo is very discriminating, and prefers not to let go of the reins of control, for fear of ending up with something that doesn't match the ideal.

On the other hand, with Mars entering Sagittarius, we feel more like taking risks and are willing to laugh at any mistakes we make, rather than taking them too seriously. If this sounds like a contradiction to what was just described about Virgo, you're exactly right.

AT BASIC LEVELS, Virgo and Sagittarius are motivated by very different needs. Virgo is an earth sign, and wants practical solutions. Sagittarius is a fire sign, and wants life to be fun and exciting. For the next four weeks, while Venus and Mars are in these contradictory signs, we may find our own relationship needs more complicated than usual, and differences with friends or significant others may become more apparent.

As we navigate relationship issues in the days ahead, this is a good time to use the higher qualities of both signs, and to be aware of where we may fall into the lower vibrational traits. With Venus in Virgo, we can choose to observe without judgment, and to love unconditionally while being careful not to slide into self-sacrifice or martyrdom. And, with Mars in Sagittarius, we can choose to laugh "with" instead of "at," and to seek the underlying meaning of what is occurring, making sure not to lapse into self-righteousness or arrogance.

Planetary Energies for September 17 to 23, 2012

THE SECOND Pluto-Uranus square occurs this week, exact on Wednesday. We have been working with this influence for several weeks, so this energy should already feel somewhat familiar.

We may also recognize a similarity between events this coming week and those that occurred around June 26, at the time of the first Pluto-Uranus square. But, even if we find similar themes present in both time frames, we can also "expect the unexpected" this week, since Uranus excels in creating surprises.

What we know for sure is that both of these planets are intent on bringing about necessary changes. We also know that neither planet is noted for subtlety. With both of them strongly activated now, a new world is in the midst of being created -- at times requiring that the old world be demolished first.

URANUS IN ARIES has the effect of an extra adrenalin pump. In square aspect to Pluto, Uranus can exaggerate our reactivity, so that we are more likely to act first and think about it later (maybe). The "fight or flight" mechanism can be strongly engaged at this time.

We also tend to be less concerned with fitting in and being accepted with Uranus pushing us forward. We may appear more than a bit selfish to others as we experiment with new ways of being and moving in the world. Apologies and niceties may seem like foreign concepts.

At the same time, because Uranus represents higher consciousness, the potential is also available for us to more fully align our personal will with a knowing of right action. Fulfilling this potential takes considerable self-awareness. It requires being cognizant of where our buttons are being pushed, being able to take a step back from purely instinctive reactions, and utilizing the often untapped portions of our brains to find solutions instead.

IN ANOTHER CORNER of our planetary arena, Pluto in Capricorn stands ready. Pluto is the bulldozer, tearing down both internal and external structures that do not support our highest aspirations.

Like Uranus, Pluto also can trigger our instincts, especially those that are engaged when we feel bullied or victimized. Through these situations, Pluto reveals how we continue to give away our power.

As Pluto squares off with Uranus, we can become very aware of where and how we feel boxed in. But, if we take the time and have the courage to search more deeply, we may also realize that it is through our own self-perceptions that our sphere of activity and influence has been limited.

MERCURY interacts with both Pluto and Uranus this week, creating a configuration called a "cardinal T-square." A cardinal T-square is formed when three planets, each in a different cardinal sign, all come to the same degree of their respective sign at the same time.  (This week, Mercury is at 7 degrees of Libra, Pluto is at 7 degrees of Capricorn, and Uranus is at 7 degrees of Aries.)  

This means things could get pretty complicated when it comes to communications and logistics this week, especially on Thursday -- a bit like a Mercury retrograde moment, with a bit of extra intensity thrown in for good measure. Manifestations may also include revelations of previously hidden information, and unexpected insights and solutions coming into our awareness.

WITH MERCURY at a pressure point, we will also need to be careful of the tendency to speak thoughtlessly or from places within ourselves that are less enlightened. That instinctive, automatic-response verbal mechanism is highly activated with this T-square.

For help in dealing with issues that arise, we can look to the "missing leg" of this T-square -- the fourth cardinal sign that is not represented. That sign is Cancer, which means we will want to call upon our natural sensitivity and sympathy as way to regain our balance.

AT THE SAME TIME, we want to take advantage of the potential for liberation and personal empowerment that is promised by the Pluto-Uranus square. No small task, balancing such extremes of motivation. We have to be very clean and clear with ourselves and with others.

Because, if we aspire to have autonomy (Aries) and authority (Capricorn) but forget the need for sensitivity (Cancer) and fairness (Libra), how are we any different than those who enslave and manipulate for personal gain? This is one reason why these are such powerful times, requiring each of us to become more conscious with each passing day.

IF YOU FIND YOURSELF feeling especially restless and impatient this week, take heart that you are not alone! And yet, knowing that many (or most) of us are dealing with the same triggering mechanism means that we will need to be especially patient and kind with each other.

That ability may come more easily at the end of the week that it does at first. The Sun moves into conciliatory Libra on Saturday, helping us all play a bit more fairly for the next few weeks, and reminding us of the importance of getting along.

SATURDAY IS, of course, also the September Equinox, when autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere and spring begins in the Southern Hemisphere. The alignment between the Earth and the Sun that occurs during an equinox provides the opportunity for us to access new levels of information and insight.

In her "Celebrating the Equinoxes" article on the Shamanic Astrology Mystery School website, Cayelin K. Castell explains a bit more about the equinox potentials:
"During the equinoxes, the Earth's auric or magnetic field is affected by the Sun's alignment with the Earth's equator. Twice each year, at the equinoxes, the Sun rises and sets exactly over the equator, remaining closely aligned there for approximately 48 hours. Planetary Energies for August 27 to September 2, 2012

HERE WE ARE, beginning the last week of August and even setting foot into September before the next issue of this journal is written. How, in heaven's name, did this month pass by so quickly? Perhaps the heavens can supply some answers ...

Pluto in Capricorn is currently dismantling certain structures in our reality that have become too confining or restrictive, especially if they have been undermining our ability to be fully in charge of our lives. This is occurring for structures both in our personal lives and in our society.

TIME is ruled by Capricorn -- and no doubt most of us can relate to the feeling that Time has been our master, with schedules deciding when we should do this or that, with little of the free-flowing moments outside of Time that truly engage our souls. I know that when I finally have a day without a specific time I need to be anywhere or do anything, there's an entirely different feeling I carry with me throughout that day.

In today's society, most of us rely on the 24-hour clock to guide our activities. We become impatient when we are "late," and irritated when others interfere with getting something done "on time."

BY RUNNING OUR LIVES based on strict schedules, we have lost connection with our internal clock, which is a vital guidance tool and helps us move through our lives with greater certainty and authority. Our internal mechanism knows the secret of perfect timing, which may not be as readily accessed when we script our lives by the hour.

Pluto knows that this reliance on external timekeepers is not in our best interests. And so, one of the structures that Pluto is deconstructing is Time and our reliance on it. This process is being enhanced through the Pluto-Uranus square.

Jupiter in Gemini may also be affecting our perception of time. Our minds are receiving greater quantities of information and our daily activities are becoming more varied. We may feel that there isn't enough time to absorb it all or get it all done, so we perceive time to be moving more quickly than before. At the same time, Jupiter in Gemini is helping us see a bigger picture than usual, which also reduces the importance of living by the clock.

I MENTIONED last week that I would keep you informed about when the other planets in our solar system interact with ("trigger") the energies of the upcoming Pluto-Uranus square. We actually will experience some of that effect this evening (early Monday in some time zones), with the Moon conjunct Pluto at 7:05pm PDT and then square Uranus at 8:19pm. The Moon moves quickly enough that we may not notice major events -- but if we are tuned in, we should be able to pick up on the themes and emotions that are building.

We may become more aware of issues needing our attention on Monday and Tuesday, when Pluto and Uranus both form minor "sesquisquare" aspects with Mercury. These aspects can correspond with situations that stir up irritation or frustration.

With these aspects, we may over-react if we perceive our authority has been questioned, or out of a need to control or manipulate people and situations (Pluto in Capricorn). Or we may lash out at others or feel particularly rebellious if we feel something or someone is standing in the way of our rights and freedoms (Uranus). To navigage these situations, we must call upon the qualities of calmness, patience and self-observation.

WEDNESDAY'S ASPECTS provide support for projects and communications. Pluto trine the Sun will assist us in making adjustments as needed to reach our goals, and Saturn sextile Mercury can increase our ability to work well together, especially on creative projects. These are aspects of empowerment and stabilization, both of which will no doubt come in handy!

Thursday looks a little rockier, with the Sun opposing Chiron and quincunx Uranus. Both of these aspects require us to be able to see issues from another person's point of view -- which can be difficult if we are SURE we are RIGHT.

FRIDAY'S FULL MOON is a "blue moon," which just means that it is the second Full Moon within one calendar month. Full Moons occur about 29-1/2 days apart, so if one occurs on the first day of a longer month, we can have another Full Moon that same month. It doesn't happen all that often, which is why we have the phrase "once in a blue moon" to describe something that doesn't happen very often.

Pluto is in harmonious relationship with the "Lights" (the Sun and Moon) at the Full Moon, so this lunation should help us let go of the restrictions of the past. At the same time, Uranus is in slightly uncomfortable relationship with the two Lights, so we are also likely to experience some frustrations and restlessness wherever things are moving more slowly than we would ideally like.

The Sabian symbol for the Full Moon gives form to both the empowering influence of Pluto and the impatience of Uranus: "A jockey spurs his horse, intent on outdistancing his rivals: Intense mobilization of energy and skill in the drive for success in any social performance affected by the competitive spirit."

ANOTHER IMPORTANT SHIFT takes place this week: the Moon's North and South Nodes change signs. These two points move backward through the zodiac -- so the North Node is moving from Sagittarius to Scorpio, and the South Node is moving from Gemini to Taurus.

The North Node represents our shared path of highest growth, and is in each sign for about 18 months. We can look to the positive qualities of Scorpio as general guidance from now through February of 2014. These qualities include passionate dedication and involvement in life, awareness of our own and others' motivations, the ability to share resources with others, and the ability to let go of what has outlived its usefulness and vibrancy. 

Conversely, the negative qualities of the South Node's sign represents our default mode, our lowest common denominator. The lower-vibrational qualities of Taurus include stubbornness, possessiveness, avoiding change, over-reliance on routine for a source of security, and resistance to accepting help from others.

Also, the Nodes determine the timing and sign location of eclipses. With the Nodes changing signs, we will also see the eclipses shift from Sagittarius-Gemini into Scorpio-Taurus -- starting with a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on November 13.

Planetary Energies for August 20 to 26, 2012

THERE ARE TIMES when the old ways no longer suffice. Pluto and Uranus are making sure that we become aware of those old ways and their insufficiencies. This theme is at the heart of many of the changes we have been experiencing this year.

Pluto and Uranus are not represented strongly this week in the "highlighted aspects" list -- but we are already starting to feel the effects of the second Pluto-Uranus square, which will be exact on September 18. As we work with this energy over the next six to eight weeks, we will be taking another step (leap?) forward, divorcing ourselves from old patterns and situations that have proven to be restrictive and disempowering. In their place, we are encouraged to embrace individual freedoms (Uranus in Aries) and personal empowerment (Pluto in Capricorn) in greater and deeper ways.

OVER THESE NEXT few weeks, I'll be watching (and writing about) the times when the other planets interact with Pluto and Uranus, since these interactions may provide some important clues as to our next steps in the liberation and empowerment process.

This coming week, the primary interaction is on Monday (August 20), when the Moon squares Pluto (10:00am PDT) and the opposes Uranus (11:25am PDT). The Moon moves so quickly, the clues may be subtle and fleeting -- but if we pay attention, we may become aware of some essential insights that will help guide us in the weeks ahead.

THE SUN enters Virgo on Wednesday this week. This is our astrological indicator that the current season (summer in the north, winter in the south) is drawing to a close. While the Sun has been in Leo for the past four weeks, the emphasis has been on what brings us creative satisfaction, and we've been encouraged to lighten up and play more. For many, it's been hard to motivate ourselves to do work, especially the type of work that is routine and methodical.

Now, with the Sun moving into practical Virgo, there is a subtle shift. We gradually turn our energies and intentions toward the work that needs to be done, and are supported in doing the tasks that help us feel worthwhile and useful.

HOWEVER, with Neptune opposing the Sun on Friday, the end of the week is not the best time to try to get much done on a practical level. It will likely be hard to focus on the task at hand, and we may miss a few details even if making an extra effort to be conscientious.

We might call Friday a "mini-Mercury-retrograde" type of day. Settling down to do the day's work may be difficult, and daydreaming can get in the way of getting our work done. But, those same imaginings may also provide inspired visions that we can implement later -- if we remember to write them down before the wisps disappear into nothingness.

MARS also changes signs this week, leaving conciliatory Libra after spending seven weeks in that sign. Beginning on Thursday, Mars will be in fearless Scorpio, inspiring each of us to take action based on our passions and instinctive reactions.

This placement of Mars can be very cathartic for those who have felt unable to act on their truth -- especially if they have held themselves in out of fear of creating a disruption in relationships or even just risking another person's displeasure. As Mars traverses Scorpio for the next six weeks, we will become increasingly motivated by how our gut responds, and less by what our minds may be telling us is appropriate or acceptable.

This is all about using your creativity and insights to assist all of humankind in bringing God energy into structure in tangible form in order to create a plan for the further evolution of humankind. Your goal is to stand on that firm inner foundation which you have been building so that all of your experiences and interactions reflect cooperation and harmony guided by your insights and visions.


AUGUST 1 to AUGUST 4, 2012 (98/17/8)


You began the month with an emphasis on communication in all its forms. You can use your sharpened perception and acute awareness to master the more subtle ways of communication. These are very benevolent energies of manifestation and they are to be used constructively for humanitarian purposes on the material plane. You began with a reminder of the vibration of the year and the adventure and change it influences so allow yourself to explore and be open to the variety of experiences that can come to you. 


Now you have the opportunity to get into the flow as the Master Builder assists you to manifest harmony in the physical plane so that when you stand in the center of your foundation you can take full advantage of the opportunities and events which present themselves to you. It is now time to withdraw and reflect upon where you are and how far you’ve come so take the time to listen to your inner voice and you will find the direction for further movement as long as you remain flexible and adaptable to the circumstances and the truth. This period of benevolent energies ends with more benevolent energies so examine all the details that arise in your material affairs and move with the spontaneity of creation to reap the harvest under this influence. This week brings you the energies of friendship and inner peace. The concept of loyalty is paramount in these energies in order to bring you an understanding of what can be changed and what cannot. This energy moves you to understand that we are moving from standing alone to standing together. These creative energies will assist you to carry out an important mission – a deeper understanding and integration of the Universal Brotherhood into your being. 


You begin by experiencing sharing of your accomplishments with meaningful companionship so release your fears of “not good enough” and understand that this sharing assists everyone to better understand. Now it’s time to rely on your intuitive wisdom combined with a strong sense of justice as you use the available energies to assist you in clarifying your desires and manifesting them through your imagination. This is followed by the energies of the Master Messenger which urges you to remember you are Spirit who has chosen a bodysuit so use that connection to tie into your Higher Guidance for direction and remain sensitive to the insights and revelations that will be offered to you. 


Now it’s time to celebrate and creatively express the inner joy, harmony and peace which comes as you experience the wholeness of you as both Spirit and physical. This is followed by a day of manifestation which will requires remaining centered and balanced because supporting it is the Master vibration of the Christed Consciousness which brings compassion and requires you to accept your responsibilities with courage and faith in Higher Forces. 


A day of reaping the rewards of past achievements while preparing for further adventures comes to you to remind you that it is through sharing your accomplishments in harmony and peace that moves everyone forward. You begin the week with the energies of creation and celebration so open your eyes, stay connected to your intuition for direction and enjoy the process of fulfillment that comes to you. 


Then you move to a day of news coming to you about how to walk your own path in cooperation with others walking theirs. 


This is followed by a day of experiences which test your sense of freedom so if you feel a challenge to exercising your own expression of you, know that it is there to assist you to release any remnants in any of your bodies which inhibit you from being who you are. 


Now you move to what may be a very intense day because you have the underlying Master Builder beneath the Master Messenger which is beneath the Master of the Physical, Christed consciousness, all of which will demand that you remain centered in your Higher Guidance to bring your sensitivity to insights and revelations into perspective as you use your abilities for compassion and take the responsibility to heal and be receptive to the messages which will bring balance to your affairs. 


Your increased sensitivity continues the following day so be prepared to process all this information and manifest its highest expression within your life. You end of the week and the month with the energies of inner balance and flow between the elements and aspects of your Spirit-physical self. Your goal for this period is to manifest in your life in every way the true Spirit-physical you.

Planetary Energies for August 6 to 19, 2012

Please note that this journal covers 14 days -- August 6 to 19 -- instead of the usual seven. Your astrologer is taking a short vacation and leaving her computer behind. Her next installment of this journal will arrive in your inbox in two weeks.

For the Week of August 6 to 12:

MERCURY WRAPS UP its retrograde phase this week, which should bring a bit of relief for those of us who have had interesting (!) experiences with communications and computers over the past three weeks. Still, as much as we might be simply gritting our teeth and waiting for this backwards time to be over, we will be missing an opportunity if that's all we do.

As always, there are gifts in what at first can seem to be a negative. Since Mercury has been retrograde in Leo, we might consider how events since July 14 have served to inspire a new level of creativity -- perhaps through removing old patterned ways of going through our days, or disrupting routines and requiring us to think outside of our usual box.

ONCE MERCURY goes direct on Tuesday (Wednesday in some time zones), the planet will still be in its "shadow period" until August 21, when it finally reaches the point where it originally was before going retrograde.
The shadow period does not tend to be as problematic (full of opportunity) as the actual retrograde phase, but provides a buffer time when we will be working to resolve issues that have arisen over the past three weeks. During this time, we will be finishing a clean-up and clearing process, and establishing a new baseline that we will then build upon.

VENUS is the other planet in the headlines this first full week of August. The planet named for the goddess of love changes signs on Tuesday, moving from an intellectually-based air sign (Gemini) to an emotionally-based water sign (Cancer). For the next four weeks, we are supported in opening our hearts more fully in our relationships, and allowing and accepting vulnerability in ourselves and others.

This theme of heart-connection is emphasized on Thursday this week, as Neptune and Venus share their energies through a trine aspect. While Venus represents human love and resonates with the heart chakra, Neptune represents spiritual love and resonates with the high heart (thymus) chakra.

When these two planets interact, we can bring the qualities of compassion and understanding more fully into all of our personal interactions. This trine aspect provides the energetic support for us to heal issues that have arisen in our relationships, and also enables us to let go more easily, if that is what is the highest solution.

For the Week of August 13 to 19:

WEDNESDAY appears to be a turning-point day for the week of August 13. On that day, Venus interacts with energy of the Pluto-Uranus square, Mars aligns with Saturn in Libra, and Chiron trines Venus. Any one of these influences acting by itself could affect the course of our relationships. Having them all occur on the same day is even more significant.

We'll start to feel the energy shift on Tuesday the 14th, as the Sun steps into place to work with Uranus and Pluto. This interaction should fire up our need to express our individuality, while also making it apparent where current structures seem to be interfering with our personal fulfillment.

THE THREE Venus aspects on Wednesday are an energetic mouthful, so it may be easiest to take them one bite at a time:

The Venus-Pluto opposition intensifies our awareness of trust issues. We feel more sensitive than usual, and are more likely to react defensively to perceived threats. The positive effect of this aspect is to bring issues into our awareness that have been brushed under the carpet. This will enable us to bring greater honesty into our relationships, but we will need to be careful of using truth as an excuse to be hurtful.

The Venus-Uranus square pushes our "I need to be me" buttons, which isn't usually conducive to the patience and moderation needed to keep relationships on an even keel. If we've been denying something important about our needs, this aspect will exaggerate those needs so that we can no longer ignore them. This is a good time to allow everyone a bit of latitude, since all of us will likely be more focused on ourselves and less worried about accommodating the needs of others.

The Venus-Chiron trine provides the energy of healing and brings compassion into our interactions -- which it sounds like will be very helpful, given the intensity of the Pluto and Uranus aspects. This trine should help us move into a higher perspective with regards to our relationships. The key will be to letting go of the need to be right and releasing our grip on power struggles that may arise. If we can move into the energy of the high heart, we will be much happier with the outcomes.

THE SATURN-MARS alignment -- also on Wednesday the 15th! -- marks an important shift point, an ending and a beginning. Saturn represents the themes of discipline and self-reliance, while Mars inspires us to take action and to find the courage needed to embark on new paths.

When these two planets are aligned in Libra, their influences are brought to bear in our relationships and in our understanding of justice and fairness. With their support, we may finally find the courage to take concrete steps in new directions. The new road we take will be the result of choosing to live a life of greater self-respect and personal integrity, and will ultimately lead us to greater harmony and balance in our lives.

THE NEW MOON on Friday, August 17, is in Leo, inspiring us to have the Lion's courage as we begin anew. Leo is a fire sign, and when operating at its highest vibration is inspired and creative, fully engaged in life's adventure and enjoying the present moment.

The Sabian symbol for the location of the Sun and Moon at the time of the lunation is very encouraging:
"After a heavy storm, a rainbow: Linking above and below, the Convenant with one's divine nature, the promise of immortality."
Dane Rudhyar's interpretation of this symbol in his book "An Astrological Mandala" takes us further into the hopeful metaphor of the rainbow:
"As we come to this level, we find we have been able to weather the cathartic storm; because we have been victorious, a link has been established with our divine Soul-being. Both the human and the divine partners should remain thus linked.

"The symbol of the rainbow shows us the need to maintain a state of open communication between the Sky and the Earth within our total being -- not for the sake of finding the ever-elusive 'pot of gold' at the end of the rainbow, but in order to face the totality of our individual selfhood as it is projected in the many-hued dome of our sky-flung consciousness. After every successfully-met crisis, the Revelation of Worth comes to us."
IT APPEARS that there is great potential in the second half of August. We see the possibility of a new beginning, and that the planetary alignments will support us in having the courage and insight needed to begin to manifest the new life we have envisioned.

With the next Pluto-Uranus square coming up in mid-September, we realize that the themes of clearing, renovation and change will continue -- but it's good to know we also have rainbows we can count on.
