Astrological Energies for May 24 to 30, 2010

We are restless, anxious to break free from the external restraints and internal restrictions that have kept us from living more authentically. Uranus, the planet of revolution, nonconformity and liberation, enters Aries this week, and so begins his seven-year process of awakening the Risk-Taker, Pioneer and Leader within each of us.

Uranus' ingress into Aries also amplifies our awareness of how the energies of June's Grand Cross Eclipse will manifest. For several weeks already, we've been observing or involved in events that have shaken our foundations in some way. These shake-ups will continue to be a part of our shared landscape over the next few months, as we are further liberated from the physical and emotional bindings that have interfered with our taking the initiative in an important area of our lives.

During this freeing-up process, we may find that the more confrontational side of Aries is also unleashed. If we've been holding in or denying our essential truth, our initial experience of the Uranus-in-Aries energy may be anger, impatience, or even extreme selfishness and thoughtless action. These reactions will manifest, and need to be vented, in direct proportion to the level of self-denial or self-negation we've been engaged in.

If you find yourself feeling these strong negative emotions, it will be vital that you find healthy outlets for expressing and releasing them. Holding them in or denying your true needs at this point will only fuel the fire, and may result in even stronger explosions or implosions later on.
The Full Moon, on Thursday this week, occurs virtually at the same time as Uranus steps into Aries, further emphasizing the feeling that change is in the air. The keywords for this Full Moon are "Emotional Rebirth," as illustrated by this Sabian symbol:

"Cupid knocks at the door of a human heart: A stirring-up of individual longings for romantic love."

The additional explanation of this Sabian symbol is very much in keeping with the nonconformist tendencies we have already ascribed to Uranus in Aries:

"Intensely romantic love knows no rules and ignores collective purpose or dictates of reason."

Whether or not we are shopping for romance, this Full Moon carries the energies to help re-invigorate our passion for living, and encourages us to follow our hearts as we go forward -- even if in so doing, we break some rules.

Nevertheless, either practical concerns or fear may hold some of our rebelliousness in check a while longer, due to Saturn's strong influence now. Saturn is usually the conservative, cautious one when it comes to making changes, and wants to be sure all bases are covered before hitting the game-winning home run.

Saturn has been retrograde (moving backward) since January 13, compelling us to revisit certain issues, perhaps trying one more method or learning additional lessons before making a decision.

As the ringed planet comes to a standstill this week, those teachings and their results become clearer. That clarity and objectivity is what we will want to remember as Saturn begins to move forward over the coming weeks, especially during the Grand Cross energies of late June through early August.

Blessings,

Pam
