Planetary Energies for March 26 to April 1, 2012

URANUS AND THE SUN have been collaborating this past week, raising and amplifying the frequencies around our planet. Symbolically, this is a bit like having a lot of static electricity in the air, which at low levels can make our hair stand on end, and at higher levels can feel almost shocking.

This takes a bit of adjustment, needless to say. If we're already a bit "on the edge," these heightened energies may be all that is needed to tip us one way or the other.
But, if we can work with these waves and ride out our mental and emotional reactivity, they will help us release old patterns and move into a more enlightened state.

ALTHOUGH the exact Uranus-Sun alignment is now behind us, the themes of change and breakthrough or breakdown carry into the coming week as well. This occurs for a couple of reasons, astrologically speaking.
As mentioned last week, the Sun, Moon, Uranus and Mercury were aligned at time of the New Moon on March 22. Alignments that occur during a New Moon infuse the entire lunar cycle (the next four weeks) with their influence. There is the potential for specific developments related to key themes around the time of the First Quarter, Full, and Last Quarter Moons.

THIS NEW MOON ALIGNMENT of four planets in Aries has begun an important process of redefining ourselves and expanding our consciousness to incorporate both greater self-awareness and an expanded cosmic awareness. Events this past week have been designed with those purposes in mind.

Our First Quarter Moon is on Friday (12:41pm PDT), so we may see additional changes toward the end of this week that directly relate to what has recently come into our awareness. And, the Sun will square Pluto on Thursday, also potentially setting off the next step in a larger process underway.

IN ESSENCE, during these two weeks when the Sun first aligns with Uranus and then squares Pluto, we are getting hints as to many of the larger themes involved in the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square. That planetary aspect will not be exact until June 24 -- but it is such a strong influence that we are already seeing its impact.
On the worldwide stage, we can see this influence in rebellions, changes in social structures and governments, and a general unrest with going along with "the way it's always been done." On a personal level, we are also rebelling and changing how we've handled certain areas of our lives.

We will see the effects of the Pluto-Uranus square slowly growing in the next three months. And, each time the Sun or another planet comes into contact with Uranus and Pluto, it will act as a "trigger" for the energy of that square aspect. That is what we are experiencing in this current two-week timeframe.

HELPING US MANAGE the intense energies, we have a quintile aspect between Saturn and Pluto on Wednesday this week. This is the second of three quintiles between these two planets -- the first was on November 11, 2011 and the third will be on August 19, 2012.

Quintiles are meant to help us find creative, innovative solutions to issues we are dealing with. Saturn helps us align with proper timing, and Pluto assist us in purging old patterns that have interfered with our full empowerment.

I appreciate astrologer Jeff Jawer's interpretation of this quintile, quoted here from the February-March issue of The Mountain Astrologer:
"This creative connection between astrology's heaviest planets can turn darkness into light. Original thinking helps us to move toward resolution of seemingly intractable problems."
A very fortuitous aspect to be supporting us during these changing times!

WE MAY ALSO have helpful assist from that First Quarter Moon, mentioned above. It occurs in the eleventh degree of Cancer, and here's the Sabian symbol for that degree:
"A clown caricaturing well-known personalities: The value of humor in developing objectivity and independence of mind."
We already know that humor is one of our most important tools during Mercury's retrograde phase (March 12 through April 4). This Sabian symbol reminds us of the importance being able to laugh at ourselves, and at our sometimes-frustrating, very-human tendency to forget about the forest because we're staring at one particular tree...

Blessings,

Pam
