THE ARIES FULL MOON on Tuesday brings the energies of the most recent New Moon to a climax. If you recall, that New Moon on September 27 was a powerful one, due to the close aspects formed with Uranus and Pluto. It brought up both the need for change and the underlying resistance to change -- a potent combination!

That Libra New Moon also seemed to bring into focus the energies of the entire month of September. Many of us were engaged in internal battles between pessimism and hope throughout the ninth month, trying to find a place of balance. The New Moon provided an outlet and a place for those struggles to manifest externally.

IN PARTICULAR, these two weeks since the New Moon have seen new protests arising in the United States, as individuals have begun to take their anger and frustration to the streets (Uranus in Aries) against the established base of power (Pluto in Capricorn). The motivation behind these protests has also been behind protests seen in numerous places around the world since Uranus entered Aries in March.

It's becoming very clear that the Pluto-Uranus square is challenging us to revisit the themes of individual freedoms and empowerment that were initiated back in the 1960s. This urgency for liberation and change will continue, in even stronger ways, in 2012.

TUESDAY'S Full Moon assists us in coming to completion with many of the energies and issues of September, and also supports us in creating a new beginning based on what we have learned. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and so represents our ability to take initiative and to go forth with courage, energy and confidence.

There is also a serious note to this Full Moon, since Saturn is aligned with the Sun and opposing the Moon at the time of the lunation. Saturn usually acts as the "Dr. Phil" of the planets, requiring that we take responsibility for our actions, and challenging us to see the reality we have created. If you hear a voice in your head asking, "How's that working for you?" -- that's Saturn at work.

SATURN'S EXACT ALIGNMENT with the Sun occurs on Thursday, which means we'll be feeling the effects throughout our work week. And, since the two planets are in Libra, the reality check may come through themes related to that sign: through personal relationships, through our ability to stay in balance emotionally, and/or through issues of fairness and justice.

While the themes are universal, your personal experience of this alignment will depend on where it occurs by house placement in your birth chart, as well as if any of your natal planets are being aspected. If you know your chart, look for the clues based on the meaning of the house that contains 19 degrees of Libra, and on the nature of any planets at 18 to 20 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).

THE SABIAN SYMBOL for the Moon's location at the time of the lunation is:

"The 'magic carpet' of Oriental imagery: The use of creative imagination."

This symbolic image indicates we should be able to rise to the occasion, whatever is being required of us now. This visual image also reminds us that we have many tools we can utilize in dealing with this earthly reality, and that we are capable of transforming situations and our lives as if by magic.

THE FURTHER INTERPRETATION of this Sabian symbol reads: "a strife-transcending and unattached outlook upon everyday reality." Perhaps this is the reason that Saturn is involved so directly in this Full Moon -- to support us in taking a more detached, observational stance when dealing with life issues. Saturn's ability to separate from emotional responses may be the key ingredient to allowing the magic to occur.

The combination of the Sabian symbol and Saturn's involvement also reminds us that it takes both imagination and practical application to create workable solutions. The magic carpet may be right in front of us, but we need to both see it and step on board if we are to take flight.

THE FULL MOON also contains some softer energies to assist us. Among these are trine aspects between Neptune/Chiron and Mercury/Venus. These aspects can help us listen to our intuitive knowing, and trust the process of change that is underway.

And, Mars is in trine aspect to the Moon and to the North Node at the time of the Full Moon, creating a Fire Grand Trine. This configuration helps us take advantage of the best qualities of the fire signs -- the courage and initiative of Aries, the creativity and self-confidence of Leo, and the enthusiasm and positive attitude of Sagittarius.

The involvement of the North Node in this Grand Trine indicates that we have before us a "grand" opportunity to take leaps forward in our understanding of life's meaning now. We also are supported in listening to our intuitive wisdom and in trusting the information we receive from the higher consciousness aspect of our own greater being.
