WHETHER OR NOT we personally experienced the torrential rains and winds of now-tropical storm Irene, we all need a lot of grounding now. The physical and emotional/mental upheaval created by such a storm is felt energetically by everyone on the planet.

This powerful storm, and its ability to affect so many people over such a wide area, comes on the heels of an earthquake that had similar widespread effect. It's no coincidence that we are becoming more and more aware of the truth of our interconnectedness.

The storm and earthquake are the physical representations of the higher-frequency energies we are now working with. These energies do not need to be catastrophic, but they do cause effects that we must manage, especially on the physical level.

IF YOU'RE LIKE ME, you've found you've needed a lot of extra sleep this past month. Also like me, you may have found yourself drawn to spending more time outdoors, and resisting the usual hours spent in front of the computer.

Suzan Caroll's latest Multidimensional Bulletin describes more specifically why the higher frequencies reaching the planet are making us so tired, and why we need more time in nature:

The high frequency that heals your earth vessel also creates a sense of great exhaustion for beginners. To have a consciousness that is resonating to a much higher frequency than its container is very tiring for the container. Hence, frequent naps, meditation and excursions into Nature are important while residing within your earth vessel. Walking in Nature is important so that you can more fully ground yourself into the body of Mother Earth.
Once grounded, it is easier for you to accept Gaia's assistance. The form for the Planetary Consciousness of Gaia, planet Earth, allows your body to have a break from the burden of holding a form of a much lower frequency than your consciousness.

IT IS HELPFUL that the Sun is now in Virgo, which is an earth sign and can assist us in gaining the grounding we need. Virgo is also the sign of the harvest. At harvest time, we reap the benefits of the effort we've put into various projects over the past six months, since the Equinox on March 20. And, as we review the results of our work, we must also discriminate what is now worth keeping and what needs to be dug under and returned to the soil.

During the month of Virgo (August 23 to September 23 this year), we can also see more clearly which of our "farming" methods have worked and which have not. As conscious beings, we can use that information to modify how we sow and nurture our next crop, whatever that may be.

TONIGHT'S VIRGO NEW MOON contains some helpful energies and hopeful indicators. The Sun and Moon are aligned with Venus, and there is a Grand Earth Trine between those three planets and Pluto (in Capricorn) and Jupiter (in Taurus).

A Grand Earth Trine is formed when three (or more) planets are placed in equal distance from each other in the three earth signs of the zodiac. Here's what astrologer Bil Tierney says about this configuration in his book Dynamics of Aspect Analysis:

With the Earth Grand Trine, the calming, comforting, attracting power of the trine is emphasized. One of the constructive features of this trine is that it has remarkable endurance and persistence, allowing the individual to steadily concentrate the attention upon concrete objectives without being distracted or thrown off course. Once committed to a goal, there is the ability to work long and hard toward accomplishment.

This grand trine is very helpful energy to have contained within a New Moon. It will help support us in tangible ways during the lunar cycle that begins tonight, supplying a resource of strength, persistence and grace we can access as we work with whatever changes lie ahead.

THE NEW MOON CHART also contains some sticky "sesquisquare" configurations, which means our month ahead is not going to be all sweetness and light. These aspects correspond with over-reactions and heightened dramatics, which can affect our judgment at times.

Mercury in Leo is at the center of one of these configurations, forming sesquisquare aspects with both Uranus and Pluto (which square each other). Mercury has just finished its retrograde phase, and is moving very slowly forward. These sesquisquares may indicate problems if we are too attached to promoting our own ideas, or too attached to receiving the accolades for those ideas.

If helpful changes are made based on something we've proposed, does it really matter whether anyone knows where the idea came from? In the grander scheme of things, the most important thing is the change itself, which may mean it's time to let go of the need for ego gratification.

THE OTHER SESQUISQUARE configuration has Neptune and Chiron at the center, sesquisquare both Saturn and Mars (which are square each other). The tension represented by these aspects may manifest as a desire to ignore the reality in front of us, or lack of follow-through in dealing with the challenges we are presented.

Since the exact Saturn-Mars square is behind us, the energy of this configuration may reflect back to last week and the issues that were raised Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

THE SABIAN SYMBOL associated with tonight's Virgo New Moon is "A merry-go-round." The interpretation of this symbol talks about two facets of a merry-go-round ride -- the first being the circular nature of the experience, which we see reflected in our own dealings with similar issues at various times in our lives.

No doubt what we are experiencing now, we have experienced many times -- whether in this lifetime in some form, or in another lifetime in a very similar way. The memory of how we handled it before resides within us on some level. We can access that knowing, and use our Virgo discernment of "what worked and what didn't" to great benefit at this time.

The second component of a merry-go-round is "reaching for the gold ring." Astrologer Dane Rudhyar describes this as symbolizing "any cyclic release of life energy that provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate some type of skill and mastery."

If we have been down this road before, what is the "gold ring" that we want to reach for now? What choice can we make now that will make the difference, create a new outcome, and release us from the merry-go-round?

AS IF ON CUE, JUPITER joins our discussion, wearing the garb of a super hero. Jupiter's influence is emphasized now, since this larger-than-life planet is at a standstill and preparing to start a four-month retrograde phase. With Jupiter trine Pluto at the time of this New Moon and at the start of its retrograde phase, we are supported in making profound and life-changing shifts this month and throughout the remainder of 2011.

There may be physical changes to accompany these deep-level shifts, but Jupiter is primarily interested in helping us on other levels. Bil Tierney writes that Jupiter retrograde "can be a marvelous time for gaining deeper insights into spiritual or philosophical mattes, as wisdom can flow easier from the superconscious and make contact with the conscious self."

Perhaps this easier flow from the superconscious into our consciousness will be the shift Jupiter intends for us over the next four months, especially since Pluto is also on the project. This profound change must then affect the rest of our life experience, as shifts in consciousness always do.

Blessings,

Pam
