Project HAARP: The Pentagon's provocative plan to superheat the earth's ionosphere

In an Arctic compound 200 miles east of Anchorage, Alaska, the Pentagon has erected a powerful transmitter designed to beam more than a gigawatt of energy into the upper reaches of the atmosphere. Known as Project HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program), the $30 million experiment involves the world's largest "ionospheric heater," a prototype device designed to zap the skies hundreds of miles above the earth with high-frequency radio waves.
Judging from the APTI patent, Tesla was a major inspiration for Eastlund ionospheric heater. The first New York Times article, dated September 22, 1940, reports that Tesla, then 84 years old, "stands ready to divulge to the United States Government the secret of his 'teleforce,' with which, he said, airplane motors would be melted at a distance of 250 miles, so that an invisible Chinese Wall of Defense would be built around the country." Quoting Tesla, the Times story continues: "This new type of force, Mr. Tesla said, would operate through a beam one hundred-millionth of a square centimeterin diameter, and could be generated from a special plant that would cost no more than $2,000,000 and would take only about three months to construct."

In the US, the technology is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) as part of the ("Star Wars") Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Recent scientific evidence suggests that HAARP is fully operational and has the ability of potentially triggering floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes. From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction. Potentially, it constitutes an instrument of conquest capable of selectively destabilising agricultural and ecological systems of entire regions.
While there is no evidence that this deadly technology has been used, surely the United Nations should be addressing the issue of "environmental warfare" alongside the debate on the climatic impacts of greenhouse gases...

Amy Goodman announces a newly declassified Pentagon document shows Donald Rumsfeld has personally approved wide ranging plans to increase the military's ability to fight an electronic information war. The document specifies that "the United States should seek the ability to provide maximum control over the entire electromagnetic spectrum while allowing the U.S. forces the ability to disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of global communications, sensors and weapons systems". Basically, the U.S. is seeking to "knock out" any telephone, networked computer or radar system on the planet. PEOPLE, I cannot stress to you the importance the HAARP project plays in Rumsfeld's plans. SHUT HAARP DOWN.

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Project (HAARP) developed new experimental research capabilities and conducted research programs to exploit emerging ionosphere and radio science technologies related to advanced defense applications. The FY 1990 Appropriation Act provided funds for the creation of HAARP, jointly managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Office of Naval Research to exploit emerging ionosphere and high power radio technology for new military systems applications.....The HAARP technology is transitioning to the Air Force and Navy in FY 2006.
